How do I reach Valmara?

Welcome to Mendrisiotto and Basso Ceresio, the southern Gem of Switzerland, right at the Italian border and easily connected via the A2 motorway (Switzerland) and A9 (Italy) — where vineyard-covered hills meet UNESCO heritage, over 360 km of scenic trails invite you to explore a land of nature, flavors, and culture. Ride, hike, taste, relax... or hit FoxTown Factory Store, the largest outlet in Southern Europe for  world-class outlet shopping.

This diverse region includes the Valmara valley, stretching from the shores of Lake Ceresio up to Monte Sighignola and along the ridge of Monte Generoso, right to the Italian border. Valmara is also the perfect starting point for scenic — and slightly more demanding — ascents of Monte Generoso, offering a real taste of alpine exploration with a Mediterranean twist.

Prefer traveling by train? No problem — we can hit the best trails directly from Mendrisio or Chiasso train stations. Adventure starts right at your arrival!

Should I plan a riding stop in Valmara before hitting Italy?

The region is the ideal spot for a day ride — whether you’re heading to your vacation in Italy or making your way back home.
Planning a mountain bike trip to Finale Ligure? Why not add a stop in Valmara for an epic enduro session on our amazing trails?

Would you help me to plan a long stay?

Let me help you find your perfect basecamp — whether it’s a cozy B&B, a panoramic campsite, or a peaceful vanlife spot tucked away in nature. Just tell me what you’re looking for, and I’ll go the extra mile to match you with the ideal place to rest, recharge, and ride again.

Can I experience perfect riding conditions all year round?

Thanks to its Mediterranean vibes and the shelter of the Alps, Valmara is your all-season riding paradise — with mild winters and sunny, vibrant summers.

From November to April, it’s the perfect destination for winter riding, with dry trails and pleasant temperatures.

In July and August, when the heat rises, we head to the cooler trails of Monte Generoso (1200–1500 m) and during the hottest hours we chill out by the lake with some epic wakeboarding and water sports.

What kind of winter trails can I shred in Valmara?

In winter, we ride our best enduro trails. Shorter, but intense and packed with fun. Technical, fast, with a natural flow and a unique Mediterranean vibe. The dry and mild weather makes riding conditions just perfect. Ideal for enduro lovers who want to keep the adrenaline high all year long!

What’s the riding level in Valmara region?

At justEride.ch, I’ve got you covered — whatever your level.

From flow to full send  — it’s all here.

Steep, rocky, off-camber trails, get ready for epic all-mountain and enduro adventures with stunning views — let’s go.
Smooth family tour, gentle trails or gravel roads with wine stops? Also yes.

Remember: whether you're chasing elevation or just good vibes, justEride.ch is about riding with people who share the same passion — not perfection.

What kind of bike & gear do I need?

Ride smart, ride hard.

For epic trails and big mountain fun: a full-suspension e-MTB with at least 140mm travel is your best friend here — uphill power, downhill fun.
For chill tours and scenic rides: any e-bike suited for gravel and light trails will do just fine.
Helmet? Always.
Protection? Highly recommended — better safe, better fun.

Why do you recommend riding an e-mtb?

Because we ride big: 30–50km with 1500–1800m of elevation.
An e-MTB lets you climb more, descend better, and enjoy every second without burning out too soon.
More trails, more fun, more flow.
Of course, analog MTB lovers are welcome too — I’ll pick the right route for your legs.
Fitness level? Just bring motivation — I’ll take care of the rest.

Why your ideal group size is maximum 3-4 riders?

To keep things smooth, safe, and fun on the trails, I usually ride with maximum 3 to 4 people per group.
It’s the sweet spot for sharing the stoke while still getting personal tips and support.
Got more friends joining? No worries — just reach out and we’ll make a plan that works for everyone.

Four languages in your backpack?

"Yeah boy! Wild mode on"

"Geil, Digga! Boom, Alter!"

"Ouais mec! On envoie du lourd!"

"Sì bro! carico a palla!"

I ride words like I ride trails.

Can I rent a bike?

I don’t rent bikes directly, but I’ve got trusted partners who do. Let me know what you need — I’ll help you find the right ride.
Availability may vary, so hit me up in advance.

What can I do after riding?

Your adventure doesn’t stop when the trail ends, whatever you want to do I will do my best to accommodate your request.

You can cruise across Lake Lugano for an aperitivo in a charming lakeside village, try wakeboarding at sunset, unwind with a yoga session in the peaceful Valle di Muggio, or take flight with an epic paragliding experience.
